I’m looking at my man and already forming lovely images in my head of him decked out in some of the looks created on the runway and I have Spring and Summer still to go… am I getting ahead of myself? Oh well, I enjoy looking to the future and here are my favorite looks pour Homme.
At Balmain there were subtle and more obvious references to Chinese traditional styling throughout the show, this luxury layered outfit looks so off-duty decadence with its crumpled jeans. The layers upon layers of soft wool are perfect with the beautiful teal jersey top sporting its very own oriental inspired Mandarin collar.
The Emporio Armani show had almost 100 different looks and with the sheer quantity you would be hard-pushed to not find something you loved. Armani pushed his own traditionalist boundaries with this modern collection full of futuristic fabrics that were molded into sharp tailored cuts and soft, cushioned shapes. This unusual sweater with big nestling turtle-neck and on-trend grey slacks was one of my favourite looks.
Slouchy mis-matched pinstripes, tough zipped-up boots with geek glasses and rebel hair! This look at 3.1 Phillip Lim screamed nerd gone bad and the asymmetrical draped lapels with leather binding showed a strong retaliation to the traditional suit jacket.
Alexander McQueen learnt his trade on Saville Row and Sarah Burton has well and truly done him proud with this immaculate menswear collection. The models had wonderfully slick, waved hair and their faced were covered with transparent suffocating plastic, they seemed to breath only through their attire.
Overall this collection looked traditional but there were small details that the pioneering McQueen would have loved. The pinstripes on this big luxurious overcoat fade towards the hem, they twist in an ever so modern fashion on the arms and the collar swathes the neck in fabric with a seriously unconventional cut. Wonderful.
I am in love right now with Black Watch tartan and it seems Valentino loves this rich fabric too. He hit my fashion marker with this stunning, beautiful, sharp suit and fluid green leather mac complete with matching tartan lining. If I were a man, I would almost certainly be a Valentino man.
