OOTD

23 Nov

It was a very cold day in Liverpool today and so I layered up to stop the chill.

Black jeans are my current fav and this pair were really cheap from Primark, they’re a great fit. These Vans shoes are pretty much the only leopard print you’ll find in my wardrobe as I tend to stay away from this over-done pattern on clothing.
I have had this Zara coat for ages now but it’s such a classic colour and shape that it always fits my outfits. The big H&M is great for shopping days, I’m in love with my grey Zara jumper and the denim shirt adds a little contrast and was from Primark.

Taking the Shine Off

19 Nov

I take good care of my nails and always get a little alarmed when I see natural nails ravaged by years of acrylic damage, they look so sore! Everyone has their own style but I’m afraid false nails are not my thing and with such great products to care for and enhance the appeal of going au natural I kind of think they’re unnecessary.

I am loving matte nails at the moment and got myself a great little matte top coat from H&M, the bottle design is simplistic and this does what it says on the label.

I painted this top coat over one of my favourite colour polishes, Iconic by Revlon and I love the result.

OOTD, Saturday Shopping

18 Nov

I went shopping this Saturday which is becoming a regular occurrence now that the autumn/winter season is fully underway. It’s my favourite fashionable time of year and I love living somewhere that has changing seasons and a fall in temperatures, perfect for knitwear!

Black & Gold

16 Nov

These are a few of my favourite things
New and old
All in the theme of
Black & Gold

IMG_1908.JPG
As it is November and we’re all in need of a small boost I thought I’d show you some of the things that are helping to brighten my gloomy days.

IMG_1900.JPGNew shoes are always guaranteed to bring a smile to my face, this lovely pair from Zara were £39.99 and in my opinion are very Christmas party worthy.

IMG_1901.JPG Of course there had to be a perfume in this list and I adore this one by Dolce & Gabbana and if I smell like the beautiful Scarlet Johansson perhaps I’ll find a French man to marry!

IMG_1902.JPG This wedding favour sits with my perfumes and I see it everyday, it’s a lovely reminder of my best friends amazing day and a subtle hint to be like a strong lioness.

IMG_1903.JPG I love this chic little pencil case from H&M, I keep my essential pencils and pens in it for off-the-cuff drawing as its compact enough to fit in my handbag.

IMG_1904.JPG This small ceramic and gold trinket box is where I keep matches for lighting candles, it’s prettier to look at than a match box.

IMG_1905.JPG You may have seen this watch on my OOTD posts because I wear it every day. It’s by Anglo-Swedish partnership Larsson & Jennings and was a gift to myself at the end of a bad year, it’s a very beautiful watch and reminds me that independence is so important, even if you’re in a partnership.

IMG_1906.JPG I’ve had this wrist cuff for years, so long I can’t remember where I bought it. It’s only a costume piece but has a very transformative effect when paired with a simple grey tee or black dress.

IMG_1907.JPG This new tee from H&M is great with high waisted skinny jeans and I love the graphic logo encased in super shiny shimmery gold.

OOTD Denim & Knit

15 Nov

I felt like giving my mid-week work attire a bit of a casual twist with a bit of denim this week. I teamed my Primark knitted navy v-neck jumper with a H&M faded denim shirt and black bandage skirt (also H&M).
The outfit felt neat enough for the office, which is quite relaxed on clothing anyway and a little bit preppy which I love.

Low Key Outfit of the Day

13 Nov

Sometimes I like my hair a bit messy and my outfit to be devoid of bright colours, not to blend in but to be a little anti-styled. I don’t want to look like no effort has been made, I want to look effortless.
It’s de rigeur to look ‘done’ in Liverpool, immaculate makeup, blow-dried hair, false nails. It’s good to go against the grain and show ones natural assets, don’t cover up your loveliness with fakery girls! IMG_1698.JPG

Outfit of the day

11 Nov

I don’t like Mondays, that’s an understatement really but the point is they’re bad! Really bad! I find myself searching, when I should be on my way to work already, for something happy to wear that will make me feel better about the day that marks the beginning of the working week.
So my Monday outfit consisted of a beautifully soft, warm, Zara turtleneck sweater and a New Look pencil skirt with a vibrant floral print.

Worn with black tights and a pair of H&M boots with a chunky heel and tough zip.

I did a cat-eye flick and a pink lip colour, Mac ‘Hip ‘N’ Happy’ lip pencil.

Hello November

1 Nov

Some people love basking in the sun’s hot rays all summer long, praying that the cold weather doesn’t come around again too soon and spending all winter wishing to be back in their sandals with bright cheery toenail polish on.
I’m not one of these people, I like summer with its balmy nights and relaxed vibe but at heart I am most definitely a winter girl. As well as chunky knits, boots and cosy scarves comes my favourite wardrobe addition, which is simply unnecessary in summer and it is The Winter Coat.
I have so many coats I lose count and I just bought another! I was browsing through Instagram as I so often do and saw a beautiful, soft, winter white wonder. I fell in love. I commented, found out where the gorgeous girl in the pic got it and off I went to H&M.

IMG_1014.JPG
I couldn’t believe this outfit transforming coat was £34.99, the fabric is really soft felt and it’s so wonderfully warm and cosy. So perfect for dry, crisp November days.
I could hardly wait to wear it and put it on today for breakfast in town.

IMG_1011.JPG
Worn with ‘Black Coffee Please’ Pull and Bear sweater, plaid Primark skater dress and simple black tights & shoes.

IMG_1012.JPG
I used my Benefit They’re Real! Push Up Liner to create a little definition under my eye and wore my hair down with a natural wave.

I can’t wait for the weather to get even colder so I can wear a big scarf with this coat and feel all warm. I might even make a sewing pattern from it and make myself one in different colours!

Farewell My Summer Love, Farewell

5 Sep

September is here, the time of year when our lazy love affair with sandals and sunglasses fades and we begin to feverishly eye-up the new season knitwear and boots. Ice-cream and long days at the beach become a distant memory and will soon be replaced by hot chocolate and cosy coffee shop sofas.

When I step out into the morning and feel the fresh snap at my skin & smell the cold dew on the grass I know that autumn is just around the corner, this thought fills me with renewed vigor and a change of focus for my ever increasing wardrobe.

This year I have decided that its high time we ditched the cocoon coats, mannish military cover-ups and no-effort parkas and actually displayed those waists we worked so hard for in Spring. Just because we have the possibility of hiding our extra pounds in the colder months under more forgiving clothing, it doesnt mean that we should. If we keep ourselves in check throughout Autumn/Winter we wont even need to do the big summer body re-haul next spring.

So with the waistline in mind and as the key focus for the new season I will be looking to Audrey Hepburn as one of my main style influences. Any female with an eye for style will almost certainly see Audrey Hepburn as an icon. The belted trench she wears in that scene from Breakfast At Tiffanys, you know the one with the rain, the cat and the kissing, is a truly inspiring Autumn look.

audrey hepburnI will be looking online and on the high street to capture this timeless look, here are my favourite classic trench coats of the current season.

The bare legged, demure heeled look is beautiful with a belted mac but I am a big fan of pairing this ladylike wardrobe staple with something a little less clean and tidy like a slick pair of boots. I’m lusting after these beauties from Kurt Geiger.

Ladylike Jacquard

20 Jan

I have literally been lusting over these Zara trousers for ages now so when I spotted them in the sale I had to snap them up.

Perfect for a matinee show at the movies teamed with a white H&M oversized tee and H&M black satin slippers.

I teamed my fancy trousers with a cute neon initial necklace from Primark and

Marc Jacobs Eiffel Tower & Heart charms on a long gold chain.

The weather was snowy so I wrapped up warm in a Zara wool coat and

cozy men’s Ralph Lauren scarf.
