Adoring Essie

30 Jan

Hi there,

I’ve found myself wearing a whole host of dark nail varnishes recently, it’s been a rather moody winter but I’m ready to say auf wiedersehen to the January blues.

I was after a cool grey nail varnish to brighten things up in a relaxed way and I found this beautiful one from Essie.

It has the most fabulous name too… Maximilian Strasse Her, it’s named after the royal avenue in Munich that has the highest retail rents in Germany. We’re talking one expensive looking polish here!

McQueen Men

20 Jan

I don’t often post about menswear but when it comes to Alexander McQueen I can’t resist. If the house of McQueen have any say on Fall 2015 menswear then we’re set for a military/uniform inspired autumn/winter for our menfolk and I will love it! Neat hair and frock coats, yes please sir… and did I mention the shoes? Brilliance.

Matte Me

19 Jan

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post to say I am loving this great lip colour from Sleek, it’s super Matte (the clue is in the name) and makes my lips looks full and soft.

2015/01/img_3859.jpgThis shade is called Petal and it co-ordinates beautifully with my Essie Bobbing for Baubles nail varnish!

2015/01/img_3860.jpgI’m wearing pink on my lips in an attempt to bring on an early spring but I fear it’s not working as there is snow forecast!!

Loréal So Couture

14 Jan

One of my little Christmas gifts this year was a Loréal So Couture box of goodies, so now the excitement of the festive season has dissipated and my new year flu has gone I thought I’d try the contents out.

2015/01/img_3695.jpg The box included a Volume Million Black Couture mascara, Colour Riche nail varnish in Exquisite Scarlett, Colour Riche Liner in Snow White and Colour Riche lipstick in Scarlette Crème.

2015/01/img_3702-0.jpg I adore the lipstick and because it’s so glossy it even made my dry winter lips look soft. This would be great for a vintage look or with an all white outfit for a bit of Italian glamour a lá Dolce.

2015/01/img_3701.jpgThe nail varnish is a lovely bright red colour and is really easy and quick to apply because of the flat brush. Silver midi rings keep this from looking too grown up.

2015/01/img_3704.jpgI don’t usually wear white eyeliners but this one is very creamy and didn’t irritate or scratch when applied. It helped to open out my eyes and teamed with the mascara, gave a really natural wide-eyed look. I like this mascara but normally tend to go for a softer, fuller brush to get maximum product on my lashes.

Je Suis Charlie

8 Jan

Horrified by the news reports on the Charlie Hebdo massacre today, 12 lives taken in an awful attack on freedom of speech and creativity.
Moved at the scenes of crowds gathering around the world in protest and defiance against this monstrous act. Pray for Paris and continue to be creative, do it for the 12 gone.

New Year, New Hair

5 Jan

I’ve had my hair ombré for a while now and it was pretty long until a recent blunt chop, renewed by the passing of 2014 I felt compelled to change it up a bit.
I bought this temporary Bleach London dye early in December and knew I was going to use it after Christmas and New Year with any parties out of the way and a fresh year ahead.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/8e0/39497198/files/2015/01/img_3455.jpgIt’s called Washed Up Mermaid and the name alone had me reaching for the bottle at the store! I applied the product straight from the bottle using latex gloves onto clean towel dried hair as the instructions say. The bottle says to leave the formula on for 15 minutes but I left mine on for 20 to get a strong colour.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/8e0/39497198/files/2015/01/img_3490.jpgI’m so happy with the colour of this temporary dye, it’s so vibrant and feels like I’ve totally transformed my look for £5! I bought the dye at Boots and will be heading back for another soon.
