Happy Feet?

20 Feb

Leonardo Da Vinci once said ‘the human foot is a masterpiece of engineering and a work of art’, and when you think about it, he was right. How do they balance on slimline stilettos? How do they carry our weight all day and dance all night? How do they continue on after hours of sightseeing and all severities of blisters?

Our feet truly are wondrous, don’t you agree? Well perhaps looking down at them all swollen, nail polish chipped, hard skin, callouses and dare I say…odour is not as inspiring as gazing at The Mona Lisa or The Last Supper but hey, they just need a little TLC.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset Using a pumice stone to gently remove any traces of hard skin from my feet is not something I’ve always done but I’m glad I started, they feel so soft and smooth. I use this pumice stone from Superdrug to gently massage the soles of my feet when they are softened from the shower.

I slather on Soap & Glory Heel Genius on clean feet before bed to wake up with rejuvenated skin.

Finally, I keep my nails short and neat with a nude or dark polish depending on my mood. Since I started my foot care routine I can certainly say I now have very happy feet.

Roller Lash by Benefit

15 Feb

At the beginning of the week I felt great about my new fresh faced, mascara free day look. I loved the time spared in the morning and I was beginning to feel chic and all Parisian-like with my messy hair and bright eyes.

Mid-week my eyes started to not look so good and as my Wednesday dragged on I started to get a sharp pain in my face, I took myself off to the doctors to find I have acute sinusitis and was sent on my way with a course of antibiotics.

I needed a pick-me-up or rather a perk-me-up, with my eyes looking far too tired and weary to go sans mascara I decided to try out the latest Elle magazine freebie, Benefit’s new mascara ‘Roller Lash’.

Benefit says this is a super-curling & lifting mascara and in a consumer panel survey 94% of women said their eyes looked more wide open, that’s exactly what I needed!

This mascara definitely opened up my eyes and it’s great for giving a good lengthy curl but it’s missing volume and that’s one important thing I look for when buying a new mascara.

#ZuhairMurad

2 Feb

Zuhair Murad’s Spring/Summer 2015 Couture show had me ooh-ing and ahh-ing like a broody thirty-something at a baby shower. Except these weren’t cute babies, they were the most exquisite gowns in the softest powder pinks, yellows and blues, emblazoned with galaxy’s of shimmering jewels.

IMG_4525
There were long flowing capes, bright white beauties and sparkling floor length nudes with trains that went on for days.

Set to pumping 80’s electro synth, this was Dynasty meets Ginger Rogers in the hot summer of 2015 and I am all over it.
The two glittering jumpsuits have me seriously inspired to do a bit of copycat sewing for a chic look at a summer wedding.

IMG_4532
The last creation to emerge, spot-lit on the darkened runway was a stunning wedding gown truly worthy of being called a piece of couture art.

I adored this whole collection and hope to see some inspiration trickling down to my favourite high street shops.

Sans Mascara a lá Parisienne

2 Feb

I love the effortless look of a seemingly bare-faced mademoiselle with messy hair and a sexy disposition, she is a Parisienne and she is proud of her natural face.

I would hazard a guess that in Paris, sales of false eyelashes and bookings for eyebrow tattoos are minimal and I certainly can’t imagine much business for plastic nails and synthetic hair extensions. I think perhaps some of us Liverpool ladies could learn a thing or two about natural beauty from our sisters over the Channel!

Here are three of my current natural beauty icons, French actresses with healthy faces and extreme attractiveness.
The lovely Melanie Laurent

Lea Seydoux, The pretty Prada princess who always looks a little bit post-sex in a flushed, totally gorgeous way.

After getting so much inspiration from these stunning women I am venturing out without mascara tomorrow and I can’t wait!
