Hello November

1 Nov

Some people love basking in the sun’s hot rays all summer long, praying that the cold weather doesn’t come around again too soon and spending all winter wishing to be back in their sandals with bright cheery toenail polish on.
I’m not one of these people, I like summer with its balmy nights and relaxed vibe but at heart I am most definitely a winter girl. As well as chunky knits, boots and cosy scarves comes my favourite wardrobe addition, which is simply unnecessary in summer and it is The Winter Coat.
I have so many coats I lose count and I just bought another! I was browsing through Instagram as I so often do and saw a beautiful, soft, winter white wonder. I fell in love. I commented, found out where the gorgeous girl in the pic got it and off I went to H&M.

I couldn’t believe this outfit transforming coat was £34.99, the fabric is really soft felt and it’s so wonderfully warm and cosy. So perfect for dry, crisp November days.
I could hardly wait to wear it and put it on today for breakfast in town.

Worn with ‘Black Coffee Please’ Pull and Bear sweater, plaid Primark skater dress and simple black tights & shoes.

I used my Benefit They’re Real! Push Up Liner to create a little definition under my eye and wore my hair down with a natural wave.

I can’t wait for the weather to get even colder so I can wear a big scarf with this coat and feel all warm. I might even make a sewing pattern from it and make myself one in different colours!

If I Were A Boy

20 Jan

I’m looking at my man and already forming lovely images in my head of him decked out in some of the looks created on the runway and I have Spring and Summer still to go… am I getting ahead of myself? Oh well, I enjoy looking to the future and here are my favorite looks pour Homme.

At Balmain there were subtle and more obvious references to Chinese traditional styling throughout the show, this luxury layered outfit looks so off-duty decadence with its crumpled jeans. The layers upon layers of soft wool are perfect with the beautiful teal jersey top sporting its very own oriental inspired Mandarin collar.

The Emporio Armani show had almost 100 different looks and with the sheer quantity you would be hard-pushed to not find something you loved. Armani pushed his own traditionalist boundaries with this modern collection full of futuristic fabrics that were molded into sharp tailored cuts and soft, cushioned shapes. This unusual sweater with big nestling turtle-neck and on-trend grey slacks was one of my favourite looks.

Slouchy mis-matched pinstripes, tough zipped-up boots with geek glasses and rebel hair! This look at 3.1 Phillip Lim screamed nerd gone bad and the asymmetrical draped lapels with leather binding showed a strong retaliation to the traditional suit jacket.

Alexander McQueen learnt his trade on Saville Row and Sarah Burton has well and truly done him proud with this immaculate menswear collection. The models had wonderfully slick, waved hair and their faced were covered with transparent suffocating plastic, they seemed to breath only through their attire.

Overall this collection looked traditional but there were small details that the pioneering McQueen would have loved. The pinstripes on this big luxurious overcoat fade towards the hem, they twist in an ever so modern fashion on the arms and the collar swathes the neck in fabric with a seriously unconventional cut. Wonderful.

I am in love right now with Black Watch tartan and it seems Valentino loves this rich fabric too. He hit my fashion marker with this stunning, beautiful, sharp suit and fluid green leather mac complete with matching tartan lining. If I were a man, I would almost certainly be a Valentino man.
