Birthday girl

25 Oct

I was very spoilt by all of my lovely friends and family for my thirtieth birthday, this beautiful ring from my sisters complete with my birthstone was a very special treat.

I think it looks perfect with my understated Essie Ballet Slippers polish too. I’m a very happy girl.

I recently went on a trip to New York (post to follow) and had such a wonderful time with my sisters and one of their boyfriends, we checked out all the sights, ate some delicious food and drank strong cocktails in cosy little bars in the East Village.

Now we’re home and I was greeted by a lovely surprise on the doormat, a beautiful new engraved piece of jewellery from blingthing.ch with Book of Fashion etched on.

I could not be happier with this fabulous piece and I expect I will be visiting blingthing.ch to spoil my friends & family soon!

This would make a lovely Mother’s Day present with children’s names engraved on and would be worthy of any fashionistas collection. Ariane is on Instagram @blingthing.ch and has a facebook page at facebook.com/blingthing.ch so check out her pages and get ordering because she is sure to be one busy lady!

Early Christmas Present

21 Dec

My best friend and I exchanged Christmas presents a little early and I was so happy with all of the lovely gifts from her but there is definitely a favourite.
My beautiful little Carrie Bradshaw style name necklace, I’m totally in love with it and I’m going to run around the city in heels just like Carrie! Well maybe walk…

Black & Gold

16 Nov

These are a few of my favourite things
New and old
All in the theme of
Black & Gold

As it is November and we’re all in need of a small boost I thought I’d show you some of the things that are helping to brighten my gloomy days.

IMG_1900.JPGNew shoes are always guaranteed to bring a smile to my face, this lovely pair from Zara were £39.99 and in my opinion are very Christmas party worthy.

IMG_1901.JPG Of course there had to be a perfume in this list and I adore this one by Dolce & Gabbana and if I smell like the beautiful Scarlet Johansson perhaps I’ll find a French man to marry!

IMG_1902.JPG This wedding favour sits with my perfumes and I see it everyday, it’s a lovely reminder of my best friends amazing day and a subtle hint to be like a strong lioness.

IMG_1903.JPG I love this chic little pencil case from H&M, I keep my essential pencils and pens in it for off-the-cuff drawing as its compact enough to fit in my handbag.

IMG_1904.JPG This small ceramic and gold trinket box is where I keep matches for lighting candles, it’s prettier to look at than a match box.

IMG_1905.JPG You may have seen this watch on my OOTD posts because I wear it every day. It’s by Anglo-Swedish partnership Larsson & Jennings and was a gift to myself at the end of a bad year, it’s a very beautiful watch and reminds me that independence is so important, even if you’re in a partnership.

IMG_1906.JPG I’ve had this wrist cuff for years, so long I can’t remember where I bought it. It’s only a costume piece but has a very transformative effect when paired with a simple grey tee or black dress.

IMG_1907.JPG This new tee from H&M is great with high waisted skinny jeans and I love the graphic logo encased in super shiny shimmery gold.

Łoréal, Benefit & Bourjois

8 Nov

Happy Saturday everyone,

Here’s a little post about some recent beauty purchases and my opinions on them. Look out for a great little recommended costume jewellery buy too.

I started incorporating an eye cream into my daily (and nightly) beauty routine a couple of years ago and started with Olay Total Effects 7 in one Eye Transforming Cream. I chose this particular one because I had used the Total Effects day moisturiser with SPF 15 for years (still do) and trusted the product to perform.

I’d never really looked for an alternative eye cream because I felt happy with the one I had but a friend gave me a sample of ‘It’s Potent!’ eye cream from Benefit and I gave it a try.

The box says this is a ‘Brightening eye cream to fade dark circles‘ and I can absolutely see a difference in the couple of weeks I’ve been using it, I liked it so much I bought the full size for £25.50. Working full time and studying for a degree means I have quite a lot of late, busy nights and this eye cream works wonders when I have some under eye puffiness.

This is Bourjois Rouge Edition in ‘beige trench’ and I think the colour is just as classic as its namesake. I was after a neutral lipstick with some moisture because my lips can get a bit dry in the colder weather, this does the trick nicely and leaves my lips feeling smooth and non-sticky. A lovely everyday colour that
suites my yellow-toned skin really well.

This mascara is False Lash Architect by Łoréal and on first application I found the formula to be quite dry, it took me a good few coats to get a good colour on my lashes. After a few more goes I think I like the dryness as I don’t get any clumps and because of the thick, messy bristles the brush really grips my eyelashes.

IMG_1345.JPGFinally here is my little wish bone necklace, been after one like for a while and saw it in a pack of three delicate chains from Primark for £1.50!

Pucker Up

30 Oct

This week was a bit rocky to begin with and I really felt I needed a little pick me up so off I went to Boots with a new lipstick in mind. I used the points I had collected (love how it feels like it’s free!) and treated myself to Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in 08 Grand Cru for £8.99.

This really is a lovely deep, rich colour and actually does look like velvet on my lips with hardly any shine at all. It’s really easy to apply with great coverage and my hair doesn’t stick to it in the wind, which is one of my worst peeves. A cat-eye flick of black eyeliner makes this lip look fierce.

I took a little trip to Forever 21 to check out their sale and although none of the clothes caught my eye I did manage to get a couple of jewellery bargains for 99p each.

The black crucifix bracelet is going to add a little gothic vibe to my look and I just love the gold ampersand ring. The watch is Larsson & Jennings (www.LarssonandJennings.com) and the gold band bracelet was a gift from my bestie.
A good little shopping trip!

There’s One Sound That No One Knows

What does the Fox say?

I have a feeling that the Ylvis song about this fiery furred creature is not all we’ll see of the fox this season. Owls are flying away, moustaches must dash, It’s all about the fantastic fox this fall.
